About the salon
We have two salons in Amsterdam. Assort Amsterdam is on Kerkstraat in the city centre, five minutes on foot from Leidseplein. Fairfax Amsterdam, our second salon, is on Kinkerstraat. You can apply to either through this page.

Over 1.4 million followers
Assort's TikTok, Instagram and YouTube accounts have over 1.4 million followers in total (November 2026). When a salon post features your work, you are invited as a collaborator, so it can appear on your own Instagram too. For freelancers, that means being seen by many people; for employees, it means working at a salon many people already know.

Many new guests every month
Assort Amsterdam welcomes about 300 new guests a month on average, and the average spend per visit is about €95 before VAT (May–October 2026, from our own sales records). A good place to build your own clientele.

Japanese techniques, and every service
We do it all: cuts, colour, highlights and balayage, perms, digital perms, Japanese straightening and treatments. Digital perms and Japanese straightening are rare in Western salons; here they are part of everyday work.

Learning is there if you want it
Our training app's monthly cut and colour tasks are open to freelancers who want them, and our educators score each one within 14 days. Joining is your choice.

Visas and how stylists work in the Netherlands
The Netherlands has no working holiday route that supports full-time salon work (the Japan–Netherlands working holiday only allows limited work). Our stylists in the Netherlands work as freelancers under the Dutch–Japanese trade treaty residence permit. EU citizens and Dutch permanent residents can work as they are. Salon Receptionist
The face of the salon — the role that welcomes our clients. Our receptionists are also the salon's content creators: they make the salon's Instagram posts, reels and stories, and write articles for the salon's website journal. No hairdressing licence required. Your photo is shown on the salon's website: this is part of the job.
